What information belongs on a copyright page?

The copyright notice, ISBN(s), edition and printing info, an appropriate disclaimer, your imprint, and any credits. The generator assembles exactly what applies.

Do I own the copyright automatically?

In most countries, yes — you hold copyright the moment you create the work. The notice on your copyright page is standard practice, not what creates the right.

Is copyright registration required?

No. Your copyright exists without it. Registration is optional and mainly strengthens your legal position if you ever need to enforce it.

Is this generator providing legal advice?

No. It builds conventionally formatted publishing pages. For anything involving co-authors, estates, licensed material, or quoted lyrics, consult an attorney.

Should I use my legal name or pen name as the copyright holder?

Copyright is usually held under your legal name (or your company), even if the cover shows a pen name. The generator lets you set both.

What is an imprint?

A publishing name you release books under — your own small "publisher" brand. It's optional, and you can invent one.

Do I need an ISBN?

For print, effectively yes — but KDP can give you a free one for Amazon. Buy your own if you want the same book across multiple stores under your imprint.

Does each format need a different ISBN?

Yes. Paperback, hardcover, and ebook are separate products and each takes its own ISBN. The generator gives you a line for each.

What is an edition statement?

A line noting which edition this is (e.g. "First Edition"). It's optional, and mainly matters once you release a substantially revised version.

What is a printing number line?

The row of numbers like "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1" on some copyright pages. It's a traditional-publishing artifact and usually unnecessary for print-on-demand.

Which disclaimer should I choose?

Match it to your book type — the generator does this for you. Fiction gets the "works of fiction" disclaimer, memoir gets recollection language, nonfiction gets an accuracy note.

What if my book contains legal, medical, or financial advice?

Add the professional-advice disclaimer — the generator offers it. It clarifies the book is for information, not a substitute for a professional.

Can I credit my editor and cover designer?

Yes. The generator has credit fields for your editor, cover designer, and other contributors — a professional touch and often a contractual courtesy.

What order should front-matter pages appear in?

There's a conventional sequence, and you don't have to remember it — each page knows where it belongs and the tool puts them in order for you.

Which back-matter pages should I include?

Whatever helps a reader who just finished — a review request, acknowledgments, an "Also by" list, and your bio, at minimum. There's a longer catalog for books that need it.

How do I move the generated pages into Word, Vellum, or Atticus?

Copy the generated text and paste it into your manuscript or layout tool — or, if you're using our Interior Formatter, insert the front matter directly.

How do I add a page that isn't on the list?

Use "a page of my own" — a blank page with a heading and body text you write yourself. Add as many as you need, front or back.

Can I put my publisher logo on the title page?

Yes — upload an image in the Front & Back Matter tool and it prints on the title page above your imprint name, and appears in your ebook too. A transparent, genuinely black-and-white PNG works best.
