How do I add a page that isn't on the list?
The catalog of standard pages covers what published books usually carry, but no list covers every book. For anything else, the Front & Back Matter tool has a page of my own.
What you get
A blank page with two things you fill in: a heading and the text. Everything else — the typeface, the position on the page, which side of the spread it falls on, the pagination — is handled the same way as any built-in page, so a page you wrote yourself doesn't look like an afterthought.
You can add as many as you need, in the front matter, the back matter, or both.
Where they land
Your own pages slot in near the end of their section — after the standard pages, before the colophon. That's the right place for almost everything: a page nobody has a name for is rarely one that belongs ahead of the introduction.

- A pronunciation guide, or a note on the invented language
- A map credit, or a note about the illustrations
- A trigger or content warning worded your own way rather than from the standard template
- A "how to read this book" note for something with an unusual structure
- A page for a Kickstarter or patron backer list
- A memorial page
- A series reading order
Empty pages are dropped
A page you add and leave without text simply isn't printed — no blank leaf, no gap in the pagination. So you can add one, look at it, and change your mind at no cost.
Note that it's the text that decides this, not the heading. A page with a heading and nothing under it is still an empty page and will be left out.
