Does it include front and back matter?
Yes. The Interior Formatter inserts front matter and back matter into your formatted book, in the conventional order, on the correct side of the spread, with the right pagination.
You build the content in the free Front & Back Matter tool, and it travels with your book.
The pages you always get
Front: half title, title page, copyright page, dedication. Back: a review request, acknowledgments, "Also by this author," and your author bio.
And a catalog of the rest
Beyond those, you can add any of the standard pages a published book might carry:
Front — a backlist page facing the title, an epigraph, a list of illustrations, a foreword, a preface, an introduction, a note on the text, a content note, a cast of characters, a chronology.
Back — an afterword, an author's note, book-club questions, an appendix, a glossary, a bibliography or further reading, a sneak peek at the next book, a colophon.
And anything not on the list
There's also a page of my own — a blank page with a heading and body text you write yourself, which you can add as many times as you need, in the front or the back. Whatever your book needs that nobody thought to name, that's how you add it.
You don't order them
Each page knows where it belongs, so the sequence is handled for you: a foreword comes before a preface, which comes before an introduction; a backlist page sits on the left, facing the title page; a colophon is always last. Your own pages slot in near the end of their section, ahead of the colophon.

A publisher logo
If you publish under an imprint, you can upload a publisher's logo and it prints on the title page above the imprint name. See Can I put my publisher logo on the title page?
Empty pages are dropped
A page you add and then leave empty doesn't print as a blank leaf — it's simply left out. So you can add a page speculatively, see what it looks like, and abandon it with no consequence.
