Literary
Classical and unhurried — a Garamond-flavored serif with generous leading. For literary fiction, historical, and anything that wants to feel like a hardback.
Interior Formatter
Turn a Word manuscript into a professionally typeset print interior and EPUB—with real book typography, correct page geometry, and no expensive desktop software.
Free to build and read. $19.99 for the whole book. Your manuscript stays in your browser.
Writing and typesetting are different jobs
A manuscript can look perfectly respectable on screen and still produce awkward pages: text disappearing into the gutter, lonely lines at the top of a page, chapter headings on the wrong side, inconsistent scene breaks, and page numbers where they do not belong.
The formatter strips away improvised document styling and rebuilds the book from its actual structure.
Professional defaults, without the design degree
Six settings, and six book faces to set them in — Crimson Text, Gentium Book Plus, Spectral, EB Garamond, Lora and Alegreya. Or let the formatter measure your manuscript and choose for you.
Classical and unhurried — a Garamond-flavored serif with generous leading. For literary fiction, historical, and anything that wants to feel like a hardback.
Clean and even — a true book face designed for long-form reading. For contemporary fiction, romance, and book-club paperbacks.
The workhorse — tighter set, economical page count. For thrillers, fantasy series, and anywhere printing cost per page matters.
The fewest pages — a dense setting that can take 25% off the length of a book, and that much off what every copy costs to print. For long series and box sets.
Two faces, the traditional way — a sturdy text serif for reading, a lighter Garamond for chapter openers and running heads. Drop caps on.
Not a setting but a second edition: 16 pt Luciole, ragged right, at 6 × 9. Built in one click from the book you already have, with its own ISBN and its own cover.
From DOCX to finished files
The formatter detects chapters and preserves meaningful structure such as emphasis, scene breaks, and headings. Your file never uploads to our server.
Review detected chapters, choose the trim size and typography, then preview the typeset pages in the browser.
Export a print-ready interior PDF and a reflowable EPUB from the same manuscript and book details.
The useful connection
Your final page count determines the physical width of the spine. The formatter writes that count back to the same book project, so your cover geometry can update without re-entering the book details or guessing at the final size.
Use a DOCX with chapters marked by Word headings or clear chapter-title lines. The formatter can correct chapter detection, but a clean, consistently structured manuscript produces the best result.
No—and that is intentional. Those document-level choices are replaced with book typography and page geometry. Meaningful emphasis and structure are preserved; improvised layout is rebuilt.
Yes. Load the manuscript, inspect the detected chapters, choose a style, and preview the formatted interior. Payment removes the export watermark for that book.
The current formatter is best for text-led books such as novels, memoirs, and straightforward narrative nonfiction. Cookbooks, textbooks, poetry, footnote-heavy scholarship, and image-led layouts need more specialized composition.
No. Parsing and formatting run in your browser. Your manuscript remains on your device and in the local book project you control.
