Are my files used to train AI?

Your writing: no. We don't train models on your manuscript, we don't let anyone else do it, and we don't sell or share your writing. That's a flat commitment, not a default that changes with the plan.

Artwork sent to an image service is the one exception, and only if you choose it — see the Concierge note below.

It's also mostly moot by design: your manuscript, cover art, and everything else you work on stay in your browser, so in the ordinary case there is nothing on our side to feed to anything. The exceptions are the ones you start yourself — a cloud backup, an ARC Delivery, or a Concierge order — and the commitment above covers those too.

For a Concierge order we do use AI tools, and we'd rather you knew exactly how.

• Your manuscript is read by Claude, from Anthropic, to help draft your blurb and cover copy — under an account setting that does not allow it to be used for training. It goes nowhere else.
• Cover art is generated by Ideogram from descriptions we write. Ideogram never sees your manuscript. It does see your artwork in exactly one case: in a Concierge order, if the art you sent is too small to print and you choose "upscale it for me". (The Cover Maker's own Upscale to 300 DPI button is not this at all — it enlarges the picture inside your browser, with no AI and nothing uploaded.) Ideogram's privacy policy lets them use what they receive — descriptions and uploaded images — to improve and develop their AI. Our generations stay private to our account, so no other user can see or reuse them. If you'd rather not have your artwork sent there, upload a larger file or ask us to make the cover instead.

(If you created your cover art with an AI image tool like Ideogram, that's a separate service with its own terms — but once you download the image and bring it into the Cover Maker, it stays on your computer.)
