🛠️ Troubleshooting

When something is frozen, missing, blank, or will not open.

My project disappeared.
Books are stored in the browser you used. The usual causes are a different browser/device, cleared browsing data, or a private window. Here's how to recover.
The page is frozen or not responding.
Reload the page, and if needed close other heavy tabs. Big files (large manuscripts, high-res art) take a moment — give it time before assuming it's stuck.
My file will not upload.
Check the format (DOCX for interiors; PDF/EPUB for ARC; images for covers) and that the file isn't open in another program. Nothing actually uploads — it loads locally.
My download did not start.
Check your browser's downloads folder and any pop-up/download blocker, then try again. Large exports take a few seconds to build before the download begins.
The PDF opens as a blank page.
Usually the viewer, not the file. Open it in a real PDF reader (Acrobat, Preview, or your browser) rather than a thumbnail or quick-look, and let it fully load.
The EPUB will not open.
EPUBs need an e-reader, not a PDF viewer or web browser. Open it in Apple Books, Calibre, Thorium, or Kindle Previewer.
The preview looks different after reopening the project.
A reopened project reloads your saved settings and re-renders. Small rendering differences are normal; if content is missing, your manuscript may not have been saved with the project.
I accidentally closed the browser during formatting.
No harm done — nothing was mid-upload, because formatting happens locally. Reopen My Books, load your manuscript again if needed, and re-run it.
I changed computers and cannot find my book.
Books don't sync between computers automatically — they live in the browser. Bring the project file over, or restore your purchases by signing in.
How do I report a problem without sending my entire manuscript?
You don't need to send your book. Email [email protected] with the tool, your browser, the book ID, and what happened — that's plenty for us to help.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] with what you were doing and we'll help. Real person, usually within a business day.
