Can I change my Concierge book myself?

Yes, and it's meant to be used. The book in your Concierge shelf isn't a receipt — it's the working project, with every tool unlocked.

Open it from My Books and each tool starts from our settings, not from defaults: the Cover Maker with your cover, the Interior Formatter with your manuscript and the exact style, typeface, chapter treatment, and spacing we chose.

How re-exporting works

The same way it works for everyone else: you export the module you changed. Change a tagline on the cover and export the cover; change the interior and export the interior. There's no single "rebuild everything" button, because most changes only affect one file and re-exporting the rest would just give you new copies of files you already have.

Things people commonly do afterward:

  • Fix a typo found after publication, and re-export the interior and the EPUB
  • Add an edition — another printer or binding — and export that wrap
  • Update the blurb on the back cover
  • Re-cut the social video with a new publication date
  • Add back matter for the next book in the series

⚠️ “Set it for me” will replace our settings

The Interior Formatter has a Set it for me button that measures a manuscript from scratch and chooses settings for it. On a fresh manuscript that's the whole point. On your book it discards what you paid for — the typeface, the chapter openers, the spacing.

(It was called Auto Format until August 2026, so you may still see that name in an older screenshot.)

The tool knows your book was set by Concierge, so it warns you before the click and asks you to confirm after it. But it's worth knowing what the button does before you meet it.

Two reassurances if you press it anyway:

  • Your writing is never touched. It changes presentation, not text.
  • The files you were already sent are not touched. The kit on your computer is exactly as delivered.

If you want our setting back after re-formatting, the project file in the kit's Project/ folder is the original, and HOW-THIS-BOOK-WAS-SET.txt lists every setting in plain text so you can restore them by hand.

The page count moves

If you change anything that affects the interior's length, the page count changes, and the spine width follows it. Re-export the cover as well, or the wrap won't match the block. See Does the new page count update my cover?

How long you have

The copy in My Books is hosted for 90 days, counted from delivery or from your last edit, whichever is later — so a book you're actively working on keeps pushing its own date out. The card shows the date.

When it does come down, you haven't lost the ability to change your book: open Project/project.json from your kit and you're back where you were, tools still unlocked. Pressing on the card at any point gives you that file directly. See Where does my Concierge book live?

If you'd rather we did it

The revision included with your order covers changes bundled into one request shortly after delivery — details are in your delivery email. Past that, changes you make yourself are free and immediate, which is most of why the project is in your account at all.
