The order matters, and the tool keeps it for you.

The page count comes out of the interior. The spine width comes out of the page count. The ebook carries the cover. So each step hands its numbers to the next one, and nothing has to be typed twice.

Interior: bring your manuscript

Start a book with a title, your name and a genre, and it suggests the usual trim size for that genre. Then bring your manuscript as a .docx straight from Word. Before it formats anything, it reads the file and tells you what it found: words, chapters, and anything to fix.

Then it typesets the whole book the way a publisher sets a novel, a paragraph at a time, and grades its own work in plain words: how many pages fill to the bottom, rivers of white space, facing pages that end together. When a page runs short, it tells you how many words would fill it. See the difference it makes.

Cover: the wrap is built to spec

The page count sets the spine. In the video, 206 pages on white paper make a spine 0.464 inches wide, and the cover already knows it. Add your art and the full wrap is laid out for you: back, spine and front, with bleed, safe zones and room for the barcode. Your title and name are already placed.

Switch the printer or the binding, from KDP paperback to an IngramSpark hardcover, and the whole sheet redraws to that printer's measurements. Export the PDF, look it over, and approve it. More about the Cover Maker.

Ebook: it builds itself

The ebook is made from the book you've already finished: the same formatted text and the front of the same cover. The cover goes inside the file, the contents page lists every chapter, your front and back matter come along, and the text reflows to any screen and any size a reader picks.

You get: an EPUB ready for Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play.

Upload: you stay in charge

You upload the files yourself, to your own KDP and IngramSpark accounts. We never hold your book, your account, your rights or a share of your royalties. If you have not set those accounts up yet, the guides walk through it.

You get: every file the printers and stores ask for, and nothing to redo by hand.
