My printed book has more pages than expected.

A formatted book almost always has more pages than your Word document, and that's normal. Your Word count was based on Word's big page and small margins. A real book uses a smaller trim size, comfortable book type and spacing, fresh pages for each chapter opener, and the occasional blank page for right-hand starts and even page counts.

The one thing to check: make sure your cover's spine matches this real page count, or you'll hit a dimensions error. The formatter writes the count back to your cover — see Does the new page count update my cover?
