Does the interior PDF include bleed?
For a normal text interior, no bleed is needed — body text sits inside the page margins and never runs to the edge, so the PDF is built to your exact trim size with a correct TrimBox that printers read. This is exactly what KDP and IngramSpark expect for a prose interior, and it's why the file uploads cleanly.
(Bleed only matters when content deliberately runs off the page edge.)
The exception: full-page pictures past the edge
If your book has full-page pictures, the Pictures settings let you choose how far one reaches — to the text margins, near the trim edge, or past the edge.
Choosing past the edge is what makes this a bleed book, and it applies to the whole file: every page in the interior becomes a bleed page, and you must tell your printer that at upload. KDP and IngramSpark both ask, and getting it wrong is a rejection. If you only have one or two full-page pictures, setting them to reach the trim edge rather than past it usually looks the same and keeps the interior simple.
