What should I do if chapters are detected incorrectly?

If chapters are missing, merged, or breaking in the wrong places, it's almost always a heading issue in the source document:

• Chapters missing / all one long chapter: your titles probably aren't using a Heading style. Apply Heading 1 to each chapter title in Word and re-upload.
• Too many chapter breaks: something other than chapter titles (a subheading, or scene labels) is styled as Heading 1. Reserve Heading 1 for chapter titles and use Heading 2 for anything below that.
• A stray break mid-chapter: check for a leftover Word page break or a mis-styled line.
