Which printers and bindings can I make a cover for?

The Cover Maker builds wraps for four printers:

• Amazon KDP
• IngramSpark
• Lulu
• B&N Press (Barnes & Noble Press)

and three bindings:

• Perfect Bound — a standard paperback, the cover wrapped and glued at the spine.
• Case Laminate — a hardcover with the artwork printed directly onto the boards.
• Dust Jacket — a hardcover with a separate printed jacket, including front and back flaps.

Not every combination exists

This is the part that catches people out. A printer's catalog is not a grid — each one prints certain bindings at certain trim sizes, and nowhere else. The Cover Maker knows the real catalog and only offers you combinations your printer will actually accept, which is why the binding menu changes when you switch printers.

The two rules worth knowing before you plan a hardcover:

• KDP does not make dust jackets at all. If you want a jacketed hardcover, you need IngramSpark or B&N Press.
• Lulu does not print 5.25 × 8 in in any binding.

If a binding you want isn't listed for your printer at your trim, the fix is usually to move up to 5.5 × 8.5 or 6 × 9 — the two trims where every printer offers the most.

Choosing between them

Pick the printer you are actually uploading to. Each computes spine width, wrap margins, and barcode placement differently, so the export is tailored to the one you choose — a KDP wrap is not an IngramSpark wrap.

A note on spine width

Spine width comes from your page count and the printer's own paper. Most printers publish a formula; B&N Press does not, so their spine widths come from a measured table taken from their own generator. Either way you need a page count before the spine can be right — see Why do you need my page count?
