Choosing the picture for each module

Each module in the A+ Creative tool has a Picture setting. It decides where that module's image comes from, and it is the first thing worth getting right — a good choice here makes the framing almost automatic.

Cover with title

Your finished front cover: the artwork, your title, and any layers exactly as you placed them in the cover editor. This is the default, and it is the right answer for a module that is meant to show the book itself.

Artwork only

The same picture with your title, byline and other layers lifted off — just the art. Use it when you want a close detail rather than the whole cover. A detail crop of the finished cover can slice through your lettering; a detail of the bare artwork cannot, because there is no lettering in it.

This option only appears if your title is a text or image layer you added in the cover editor. If your title is baked into the artwork file you uploaded, we cannot lift it off, so the option is not offered.

3D book shot

Your book rendered as a physical object at its real thickness, with edges and a shadow, standing on your brand color. Choose the view with the chips underneath: Angled and Face-out suit a single title, Stack of 3 and Spine-out suit a series.

This is often the strongest image in the whole section. A reader scrolling past a flat crop sees a picture; a reader who sees the book as an object sees a book.

Author photo

A photo you upload. It is stored for the whole book, so every module you set to Author photo uses the same one — upload it once. This is what the author-bio module wants; a second crop of your cover next to the words "About the Author" is not telling anyone anything.
